Overview of the Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR) and Expected Responses
~Need to address the needs of stakeholders involved in the EU trade routes for textiles, tires, steel, and aluminum~
◆Purpose of the event
The European Ecodesign Regulation (ESPR), which came into effect in July 2024, is being steadily implemented based on the work plan published in April 2025.
As with other European environmental regulations, this regulation requires not only manufacturers, importers, and distributors within the EU, but also a diverse range of stakeholders throughout the global supply chain to provide information, respond to third-party verifications, and confirm their compliance with the law.
Furthermore, for steel and aluminum products, there is a growing trend towards requiring disclosure of eco-design information even for finished products, similar to the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Measures (CBAM). It is anticipated that the range of potential stakeholders requiring corporate responses will continue to expand. (Example: Mandatory provision of information on tires and steel materials used when exporting new vehicles.)
This seminar will provide a clear explanation of the latest trends in ESPR, including an overview of the system and the necessity of taking action, for stakeholders who may be directly or indirectly affected.
