We provided "booost Sustainability" to Trusco Nakayama, a wholesale trading company for machinery and tools.

Started calculating the carbon footprint (CFP) of tools, consumables, and other products using "booost Supplier"

booost technologies Inc. (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hironori Aoi; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), which operates the No. 1*1 sustainability ERP (ESG information disclosure solution, GHG emissions visualization solution), has begun providing its sustainability ERP "booost Sustainability" to TRUSCO Nakayama Corporation (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tetsuya Nakayama; hereinafter referred to as "TRUSCO Nakayama"), a wholesale trading company of machinery and tools, to accelerate its sustainability management.

Using "booost Supplier," one of the applications of "booost Sustainability" that collects supply chain data and visualizes CO2 emissions, Trusco Nakayama will begin calculating the carbon footprint (CFP) of some of the products it handles.

■ Background of Implementation

At TRUSCO Nakayama, we have set "environmental initiatives through business activities" as one of our key priorities. By visualizing the CO2 emissions of not only our own products but all the products that TRUSCO Nakayama handles, we aim to contribute to reducing the environmental burden on users of our products and to contribute to the environmental activities of Japanese manufacturing.

By visualizing the CO2 emissions of products, we enable customers to select and purchase products based on their Cash Flow Statement (CFP), thereby supporting the decarbonization of manufacturing sites. It is against this backdrop that we have decided to introduce "booost Sustainability (booost Supplier)," which collects primary data from suppliers and allows us to calculate the CO2 emissions of the products we handle.

■ Challenges in CFP calculation and what can be achieved by introducing "booost Supplier"

When Trusco Nakayama began calculating the CO2 emissions (CFP) of its products, it faced challenges such as the complexity of requesting responses from suppliers, collecting data, and verifying information, which resulted in suppliers incurring additional costs and effort for the calculation process.

"booost Supplier" assigns accounts to each supplier, enabling them to register the amount of activity for the materials and processing (manufacturing) that make up the product, and select emission intensity units. This allows for the calculation of CO2 emissions for each product and enables the collection of detailed data for each stage of the supply chain. Furthermore, Trusco Nakayama simplifies the process of requesting responses from suppliers, inputting responses, verification, and analysis, enabling efficient CFP calculation.

■ Key factors in the decision to implement the system, and future prospects

Comment from Section Chief Kaori Kotani

Our company has set "environmental initiatives through business activities" as one of our key priorities, and we are promoting and strengthening sustainability initiatives involving manufacturers, particularly focusing on "realizing a supply chain with low environmental impact" and "planning and developing an environmentally conscious private brand, 'TRUSCO'." This time, in order to enable customers to select and purchase products by viewing CFPs, we selected a tool, and the ease of input for our suppliers and manufacturers, as well as the speed from implementation to initial use, were the deciding factors in choosing "booost Supplier."

As for future developments, we plan to start calculating the material composition of products for which we already have a clear understanding, and ultimately, we will calculate the material composition of all products that we handle.

■ About "booost Paradise"

booost SupplierThis application provides visibility into CO2 emissions across the entire supply chain. It enables the management of CO2 emissions from various suppliers, contributing to more efficient progress management in order to reduce Scope 3 emissions.

Four main features

  1. Assigning accounts and screens to all suppliers, calculating costs, and integrating them.
  2. Improving the proportion of precise primary data from the supplier side (cumulative data)
  3. Streamlining the process of requesting and confirming data from suppliers
  4. Centralize supplier emissions data
