Edion begins offering "booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)".

Visualizing CO2 and other emissions across the entire group, including franchise stores, to accelerate decarbonization.

NET-ZERO Leaders' Choice Carbon Management Platformbooost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)Booost Inc. (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hironori Aoi; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), a Climate Tech company that develops "booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)", has begun providing "booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)" to Edion Corporation (Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture; Representative Director, Chairman and President: Masanori Kubo; hereinafter referred to as "Edion") and all Edion Group companies, including franchise stores. By utilizing "booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)", all Edion Group companies and all locations will be able to efficiently manage the visualization, management, offsetting, and reporting of CO2 and other emissions generated throughout their business operations.

■ Background of Implementation

Edion is a NET-ZERO leader that endorsed the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD*) in July 2021 and is promoting information disclosure based on the TCFD framework. It is also working to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by continuously reducing greenhouse gases generated by its business activities.

To centralize CO2 and other emissions across all group locations and accelerate the achievement of NET-ZERO through more efficient carbon management, we have decided to introduce "ENERGY X GREEN," which we developed and operate.

■ What can be achieved through implementation

  1. The entire Edion Group, including franchise stores, manages all locations centrally, enabling efficient, one-stop execution of CO2 emissions visualization (Scope 1, 2, 3), management, offsetting (energy saving, energy creation, etc.), and reporting.
  2. Significant reduction in the effort required to visualize CO2 emissions across the entire Edion Group, including franchise stores, all locations, and each supplier.
  3. Efficient acquisition of primary data by assigning accounts to each supplier (precise visualization of the entire supply chain)

■Future Outlook

Comment from Ms. Misaki Ishibashi, Manager of the Sustainability Promotion Department, EDION Corporation
In considering the visualization of CO2 emissions to achieve carbon neutrality, we compared and evaluated various tools. The main reasons for ultimately choosing 'booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)' as our visualization tool are as follows:

  1. There is no limit to the number of registered locations, and users can register locations themselves, allowing for the free addition, splitting, and merging of locations, thus offering flexibility and potential for future growth.
  2. Users can set an unlimited number of items and their unit consumption, enabling the visualization of CO2 emissions by item. We believe this is an important function for organizing and visualizing Scope 3 emissions in the future.
  3. Given the large number of locations within our group, we were concerned about the workload associated with master data maintenance. However, we appreciated not only the ability to register data in bulk via CSV import, but also the high degree of flexibility in the import process.

Going forward, we plan to visualize CO2 emissions using 'booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)' and share this information internally to ensure a clear understanding of the current situation. We will start by visualizing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, and then expand this to include Scope 3 emissions, thereby contributing to the realization of carbon neutrality.

As a technology partner of NET-ZERO leaders and sustainability leaders in various industries, our company aims to build the No. 1 decarbonization and sustainability platform.

■ About boost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)

"booost GX (formerly ENERGY X GREEN)" is a carbon management platform that enables visualization, management, offsetting, and reporting of CO2 and other emissions. It has been selected by NET-ZERO leaders in various industries and has been adopted by over 120,000 locations to date. It allows for the visualization of emissions for each product and service, and enables the implementation of CO2 reductions in line with plans (energy conservation, renewable energy, purchase of non-fossil fuel certificates, etc.). Furthermore, it automatically generates various reports such as those for international initiatives (RE100, SBTi, TCFD, etc.) and the Climate Change Act, supporting efficient decarbonization management.

* TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures): Established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) at the request of the G20 to consider how to handle climate-related information disclosures and the responses of financial institutions. The TCFD published its final report in June 2017, recommending that companies and other entities disclose information on climate change-related risks and opportunities.
